Dias de los Muertos Series

For eighteen years I've joined a team of community volunteers in organizing and creating altars for the annual Dias de los Muertos celebration in downtown Santa Rosa, CA. This two-day observance is dedicated to the remembrance of our loved ones who have passed from this world and who are honored with offerings of prayers, vigils, food, music and dance.

My love for Dias de los Muertos is the belief that our ancestors and loved ones are alive and well in our hearts. That each year we welcome them home to feast, celebrate and commune with the living.

This series of images befriends Death in recognizing the eternal soul, the crown of glory and our comical race against time and decay.
